Daniel Guenther, MD, Prof.

Dr. Guenther is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialized in knee surgery at Cologne-Merheim Medical Center, Germany. Dr. Guenther graduated from the University of Muenster, where he received his MD, and was trained at the Trauma Department, Hannover Medical School (MHH), Germany. He performed fellowships at the Helios ENDO-Klinik Hamburg, Germany and at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. In addition, he was a fellow of the Schulthess Clinic, Zurich, Switzerland and the Methodist Hospital - The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, Houston, Texas, USA. Dr. Guenther is a member of ISAKOS, ESSKA, ESSKA-ESMA, ESSKA-EKA, AGA, DKG, GOTS, DGSP, DGOU, DGOOC, DGU, AANA, ACS, ICRS, AO Trauma, and ACL Study Group. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He serves on the Research Committee of AGA, the Scientific Committee of ISAKOS, the German clinical tissue regeneration study group of DGU, and the Pivot Study Group. He is a certified arthroscopist of the AGA-Society for Arthroscopy and Joint-Surgery, certified Knee Surgeon of the German Knee Society (DKG), and a provider of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). His main focus in clinical and research work lies on arthroscopic knee preserving and knee replacement surgery. During the last years he published multiple studies especially on ACL surgery, individualized knee surgery, the anterolateral complex of the human knee, and the influence of patients’ individual anatomy on arthroplastic treatment. Dr. Guenther was granted his “Venia legendi” in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery in 2017. He received multiple awards for his research work worldwide.
