Department for Sports Medicine, Technical University of Munich Munich, Bavaria GERMANY My name is Armin Runer, and i am an orthopedic surgeon from South Tirol/Italy, working as an attending at the Department of Sports Orthopaedics in Munich/Germany. My clinical and scientific interests include knee-related sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and osteotomies. I completed medical school at the University of Innsbruck and started residency afterward. During this time and thereafter, I worked closely together with Prof. Christian Fink focunsing mainly on graft choice in ACL surgery. After completing my trauma rotation in Innsbruck, I moved to Munich, following Prof. Andreas Imhoff at the Department of Sports Medicine. I completed a clinical fellowships at the Schulthess Clinic in Zürich/Switzerland and the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York City/USA. Additionally, I recently followed Prof. Dr. Volker Musahl as a research fellow at the University of Pittsburgh. In this role, I acquired extensive scientific knowledge in biomechanics and clinical research. Overall, I contributed to over 80 scientific articles focusing mainly on ACL surgery, knee instability and cartilage repair. I participated actively in numerous conferences and was awarded with six national and international awards, including the ISAKOS John J. Joyce Award for the best arthroscopy paper. I serve as a reviewer for AJSM, KSSTA, and JISAKOS and is an active member of AGA (German Speaking Arthroscopy Society), DKG (German Knee Society), ESSKA and ISAKOS.
